Capsule Wardrobe: Key Spring Essentials

I’ve heard a lot of buzz around the question how to successfully start a capsule wardrobe. The first step is simple: clean out your closet. If you haven’t read my post about How to Declutter Your Closet, now may be a good time. Many people find a capsule wardrobe to be helpful because your wardrobe feels clean, organized and clutter-free (as does your mind). I think a capsule wardrobe can also be helpful to those who just want to start over & start fresh with basics.

I wanted to share my take on a capsule wardrobe & remember that these picks are simply the foundation for the beginning of a simple & modern capsule wardrobe. .

Now, I am a true believer in a high-to-low wardrobe. I generally will spend more money on my shoes and handbags because these are the things that [if not made by a machine] will last longer. If you spend on classic pieces, they should never truly go out of style. However, there are some brands that are well made and are not designer expensive.

I try to give options when posting items. There are a lot of like items out there. For example in my capsule wardrobe, I have used the Marc Fisher Slingback which is very similar to the Chanel Goatskin & Grosgrain Slingbacks.

Now, in terms of tops, the only three essentials are a black and white tee. I threw in a grey lightweight sweater for more spring outfit options. All three of these basics are classics, and they are items you will want to keep replacing when they start to wear out. I love white t-shirt outfits ☟ [click any link to see products]

A jacket, or third piece, is one of the most important things to help make a look feel put together. If you’re just beginning your capsule wardrobe, stick to three classic pieces: Leather, denim & a trench coat. Spring is the best time to start your capsule wardrobe mainly because we all feel stuck with the winter weather still lingering. Shopping for new spring fashion and cleaning out our closets may be just the thing to get out of the winter funk! Enjoy!
