What I Packed: Maui, Hawaii

Every year we head to Maui to escape reality on the main land. We love Maui because it offers so much to its visitors: beautiful beaches, crystal water, excellent dining, colorful snorkeling, big-animal divingā€¦

Since we will only be visiting for a week, I figured it would be best to pack capsule-style so I can fit both Charlotteā€™s and my clothing into one piece of luggage. When packing for Maui, I tend not to bring anything too dressed up because frankly there isnā€™t really anywhere where you canā€™t wear sandals.

We have already made a few dinner reservations because we are traveling over the Valentineā€™s holiday. For dinner, we have made reservations at Kimoā€™s in Lahaina and Sansei near Kapalua. We have been to both many times, and I would would absolutely recommend both if you are traveling to the island. That being said, I like to wear something longer when going into restaurants. Not only do I get cold easily, but I hate when my legs stick to the seat from the humidity. I am only packing one pair of pants which, hopefully, I donā€™t regret. The beige wide leg pants that I am wearing in this capsule can be found here. I am wearing a size US 2.

essentials

Denim Jacket: Obviously I am bringing my denim jacket because not only do I get cold easily, it offers a very versatile third piece if I need to cover up. I can wear my denim jacket with everything that I have brought - even my denim shorts.

Brown Sandals: These sandals have lived in my closet for a little over 3 years and I absolutely love them. They are a classic color and very comfortable. I found that I can utilize them in this capsule with dresses, shorts and jeans, so I am definitely bringing them. True to size.

Versatile Sneaker: I love my New Balance for this very reason. They have a minimalist aesthetic and are very comfortable so I can wear them every day if I choose to. Also, this color way is very neutral so I donā€™t have to think about what I am pairing them back to. The only item in my capsule that I wouldnā€™t wear them with is my Reformation floral midi dress. These exact shoes are hard to find in this color way so I have linked a few other colors below. I actually ordered a kids size because they were sold out in womenā€™s. I ordered a kids size 5 and I am usually a 7.5 womenā€™s. I feel like they run big.

Denim Shorts: I am actually surprised that I am not packing two pairs of denim shorts since they are kind of my uniform in the summer. I chose to pack these loose, relaxed-fit shorts because I can also slide them over a swimsuit if I we go out after the beach. We always hit Leodaā€™s Kitchen for pies multiple times each trip, so I will definitely need something more than my linen-shirt-cover-up.

Neutral Handbag: I love my Balenciaga Everyday tote for this very reason. It is neutral, functional and can pack more than enough it its tiny frame. I have it in the XXS size. Another great designer bag option is the YSL North/South.

White Linen Shirt: I can style a linen shirt 3-ways: as a third piece if I get cold, as a swimsuit coverup, or just by itself. Not super fond of it over a dress, but it will do if I donā€™t want something heavier like a denim jacket. Linked here.
